Physiotherapy Home Visits
Our physiotherapists are mobile and will travel to elderly clients in the South Winnipeg Area. We are skilled in working with people of all ages, yet our focus is to work with elderly in assisting improve their mobility and function while promoting their safety and independence in a familiar environment.
COVID 19 precautions:
When our physiotherapists are visiting clients in their homes they will take several COVID-19 precautions to ensure everyone's safety. This includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as masks, gloves, and gowns, and washing their hands frequently before, during, and after the visit. The physiotherapist may also screen the client for COVID-19 symptoms before the visit and reschedule the appointment if either the therapist or the client is feeling unwell or has been in contact with someone with COVID-19. By taking these precautions, the physiotherapist can help protect the health and well-being of their clients (young and old) while still providing essential in-home physiotherapy services. Although not mandatory, patients are encouraged to wear their own masks during treatments, and engage in frequent hand washing
Assessment:
Review your medical history: We begin by asking you questions about your medical history, including any previous injuries or conditions that may be relevant to your current issue.
Assess your range of motion: Evaluation your range of motion by asking you to move your joints and limbs in different directions. They may also use specialized tools to measure your joint angles and muscle strength.
Evaluate your posture: Examination of your standing and sitting posture to identify any alignment issues or muscle imbalances that may contribute to your symptoms.
Test your balance: We may ask you to perform balance tests to assess your risk of falls and identify any underlying issues that may be affecting your balance.
Evaluate your functional abilities: Assessment of your ability to perform daily activities, such as walking, standing, and climbing stairs, to identify any areas of weakness or difficulty.
Develop a treatment plan: Based on the assessment findings, the physiotherapist will develop a personalized treatment plan to help you achieve your goals. This may include exercises, manual therapy, and other interventions to improve your mobility, reduce pain, and improve your overall function.

Exercise prescription: Prescribe specific exercises to help improve your strength, flexibility, and balance. These exercises may be done at home or in a supervised setting.
Manual therapy: Use hands-on techniques, such as massage, joint mobilization, and stretching, to help reduce pain, improve range of motion, and promote healing.
Modalities: Use various modalities, such as heat or cold therapy, accupuncture, ultrasound, or electrical stimulation, to help reduce pain and inflammation and promote healing.
Education: Provide education on posture, ergonomics, and proper body mechanics to help prevent future injuries and improve your overall function.
Home modifications: Recommend modifications to your home environment, such as grab bars or ramps, to improve your safety and independence.
Tele-rehabilitation: Provide virtual rehabilitation sessions to help you stay on track with your treatment plan and achieve your goals.
